Anxious to get to the beach, we set out late in the afternoon to Mission Beach (only about 4 miles from the park) but ended up at Pacific Beach (just a short distance north of Mission Beach) where we found a free parking space. There are several public parking lots nearby ($5/hour), but a car was pulling out just as we were driving to the public lot so we grabbed it. To our delight, we found that dogs are allowed on the beach after 4 pm during this time of year. Sadie (our doggy) was thrilled to get a chance to explore the beach and ocean.
How wonderful it was to be on the beach again. There is really nothing to compare to the beauty of a sunset over the Pacific Ocean. We saw several helicopters, that for some reason, made it even more picturesque.
We walked south for a ways taking in the beauty of the setting sun. We saw several surfers (in wetsuits) but even Sadie was a little shocked by how cold the the water was!
There are many restaurants and bars along the beachfront. And lots of folks out to see the sunset with their kids and dogs, as well as this guy piloting his drone.
I loved the beautiful shades of pink and blue reflected near the pier.
Gorgeous!
