Yates Family Camping, May 15 to May 23, 2017

Location: This is one of the many campgrounds located near the Charlotte Motor Speedway where NASCAR fans gather in the thousands to take in the various races held here. Six months ago, we stayed at Glenwood Acres and it was a horrible experience. In search of another place to stay here (as our son and his family live just 5 minutes away), we found this place. It is on Hudspeth Road off of Morehead Road and you can hear the cars on the track from here. The location is perfect for us to visit family.

Lot size: We stayed in lot #1, a large full hook-up site that we pulled into (and backed out when we left). We had plenty of room for our tow dolly and car to park on the lot. Apparently the owners of the property live in a nearby house and the couple that run the campground live in another nearby building. Other lots were quite close together (we just had lot #2 on the other side of us that was never occupied in the week we stayed) and there appear to be many monthly renters (folks that work in the area). 

Amenities: There are portapotties and even a portable shower available at the park. We, of course, always use our own bathroom. There are no other amenities but we were able to get plenty of broadcast stations from Charlotte over air. Our AT&T service was good at this location as well. 

Cost: $220/week (but the cost goes up when there is a race at the track) 

Management: The couple that run this place are very sweet and helpful. They are available by phone for anything you might need. 

General Comments:  For some unknown reason, I forgot to take photos here. We will stay here again in the future as the campground had everything we needed and we liked the owners. Many of the parks in the area are just parking lots for the race scene, and this place was much nicer. They also accommodate tent campers on the grounds.
