Hagerstown/Antietam Battlefield KOA, June 3 to 6, 2017

Rating:  3.0 on a scale of 5

Location: We made plans to stay at this RV park because of its location close to halfway between Shendandoah Crossing (Gordonsville, VA) and our visit to our month-long, hometown visit to Chester County, PA. We also had an interest in visiting Antietam National Battlefield. There are narrow roads and then a gravel road to reach this KOA. The park is situated along the lovely Conococheague Creek.

Lot size: While the layout on their map looks well-organized, some of the sites are quite small (as was ours, #15). I only called a few weeks in advance to make our reservation and requested a full hook-up, 50 amp, site. Of their 65 RV sites, only 16 meet this criteria and only 5 of them are pull throughs. Ours was a back-in and our slide outs were very close to our neighbors! There are sturdy picnic tables, tables/chairs with umbrellas, and fire rings at each site. In addition to the RV sites, there are cabins and tent sites.

Amenities: There is cable TV at each site, a swimming pool, the Kraft Room and playground for kids, laundry room, gazebo, basketball court, and small mini golf course.

The popular Remember When Cafe is on-site next to the General Store/Registration Office.

There is a Pet walk in the park as well as a  Kamp K9 (fenced-in area).

The menagerie of farm animals here were a lot of fun. Feeding times are posted for guests. Our sweet doggie, Sadie, had fun meeting the sheep as well as Bacon Bit, the miniature pig.

Various breeds of chickens and goats also live here...and were fun to see when we went for walks in the early evening.

Canoes are available for rent from the office for use on the creek. Life jackets are provided.

Whenever we drove by this branch in the creek, we saw sometimes up to seven turtles on it.

Cost: $168 w/KOA discount

Management: The registration process has always been easy at every KOA, including this one. A staff member escorted to our site, which is always convenient. There's lots of maintenance at this park, and we saw people working every day here.

General Comments:  We did not really like the layout of the sites at this park as many were too tight, but the sites along the bank of the creek were very popular (water, electric, cable, 30 amp). The cabins appear to be nice, but were also quite close together for the price. This is a popular family campground with lots of fun activities. And we really enjoyed the farm animals!
