Family Fun at Village Park, 8/25-26/2018

Arriving in Concord, Saturday, we were thrilled to reconnect with our son (Zach) and his family (Rachel and son, Andrew). Andrew will be 3 in mid-September, so we wanted to spend some time with him as he is growing up so fast. Gramps and Andrew were best buddies right away! After dinner together we enjoyed the beautiful night sky.

On Sunday, we went to Village Park (one of 6 parks in the nearby town of Kannapolis) with Rachel’s sister and family.

Village Park is a lovely family setting with a Carousel ($1.50/person), Rotary Express Train, Splash Pad, and Amphitheater (the largest in Cabarrus County). There are multiple shelters that can be rented at various prices.

We met near the Carousel (under cover) and both kids wanted to go for a ride.

The guys and the kids all seemed to enjoy it!

A lovely pond with water lilies is behind the Carousel building.

And John found this lovely butterfly...I always love snapping a photo of them!

Next up was a ride on the Rotary Express Train, a g-24 scale replica CP Huntington engine with three coaches. The kids had a blast sitting in the front seat! The train tracks wind around the park with views of the splash pad and several miniature churches in the gardens.

The rest of our time was spent at the Splash Pad, although only the kids and Zach got wet. Ella loved it, but Andrew was not so sure.

Below is a snap of Ella’s parents. It was a fun afternoon! And this is a great park where we saw lots of families enjoying the day.
