Azalea Glen RV Park, May 25 to June 8, 2016

Rating: 5+++++ on an scale of 5

Location: This beautiful RV park is located across the street from Patrick's Point State Park providing views of the coast within walking distance. It is several miles north of the small coastal town of Trinidad, CA, and a short drive from CA 101, the Redwood Highway. We planned our stay here so we could visit Redwood National park that is north on 101. The state parks in the area also provide great hiking trails and views of the dramatic, rocky coastline. So, for us, this location was perfect.

Lot size: This is a relatively small park with a total of 38 sites. Some are occupied by folks that live here full-time, 6 overlook the pond and have wooden decks, and we had reservations for one of the 4 pull-through sites. Privacy screens with ivy and flowering vines are positioned between sites ensuring a quiet and relaxing setting at each site.

There are some full time residents here and all lots are meticulously maintained.

Amenities: All sites are have full-hook ups, cable TV (many channels), and wifi. Also, there is a picnic table and fire ring at each site (wood can be purchased at the office and will be delivered to your site). There are two pet areas at each end of the park; one enclosed.

The pond is beautiful and serene with water lilies in bloom when we visited.

The bathrooms are immaculate and the laundry room (also a book lending library) is very well maintained (2 washers/2 dryers).

Cost:  During the peak season (May 1-Oct 1) rates are $45-$55/night.

Management: These people are absolutely fantastic...the nicest owners (Jeanne and Ed) we have met during our 2.5 years of travel. Lots of information about the local area and things to do are provided during check in. Also, the folks that work for them, particularly Dee Dee and Lyle, are wonderful people that really helped us out of a tough spot when our RV broke down while we were pulling into our site. While we had originally planned to stay here one week, our motor coach had to be towed to Eureka, CA (about 30 miles away) and repairs were not completed until June 6. Dee Dee and Lyle prepared a rental unit (they had recently purchased) and this is where we stayed while our motor coach was in the shop.

Since it was Memorial Day Weekend, everything in the area was sold out, so this was an awesome solution for us (since we also have a dog). It was so much nicer staying at the RV park with a full kitchen than staying in a hotel room! Throughout, these folks were helpful, kind, and generous. I cannot say enough good things about them.

General Comments: Even if our stay had only been a week as we had originally planned, I would still say that this is one of the nicest parks we have found during our travels. If you are in the area, consider staying here. The convenient location, proximity to Patrick's Point State Park (and other area attractions), immaculate landscaping, and helpful hosts make this a great place.
