Crater Lake RV Park, June 8 to June 12, 2016

Rating: 3.5 on a scale of 5

Location: This RV park (previously called Prospect RV Park) is located in Prospect, OR, about 25 miles from Crater Lake National Park. We came to this part of OR specifically to go Crater Lake so the location was perfect for us. There are lots of campgrounds in neawwrby Rogue River National Forest, but we were looking for full hookups. The park was also a great location to explore Rogue River, water falls (National Creek, Mill Creek, and Barr Creek, and the historic Union Creek area. There are many other attractions in the area as well.

Lot size: Because we made our reservations just a couple of days before our arrival, we did not have one of the larger sites. We had originally planned to stay here a week, but had to cancel due to our RV breakdown in Trinidad, CA. Having said that, we were happy with our site (#87). We had plenty of room for our motor coach, tow dolly and car with a picnic table on the side. Also, the lots here are nicely positioned and mostly shaded.

Amenities: All sites have full hook ups. Direct TV access is available and the office has cable boxes for rent (all they had none available when we checked in). They have an extensive video library and you can borrow as many as you want (which we did!) From our site we had difficulty accessing wifi, but both cellular and wifi access is available near the office. Because we were there to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, this was not an issue for us. The bathrooms were not impressive, but we use our own bathroom in our motor coach, so again, this was not of concern to us.

There are forest trails that can be accessed directly from the park. While it is located along OR 62, we did not hear any highway noise whatsoever.

The park frequently hosts fire circles (with hot dogs, s'mores, etc.) and BBQs. There was a "hootenanny" with a solo guitarist Saturday night (no charge), and it was really a lot of fun!

We made fast friends with a family whose mother was visiting from Australia. We always meet interesting people in our travels.

Cost: $130.14

Management:  Everyone that we met who works here was great. We were promptly escorted to our site upon arrival. I subsequently checked in at the office to pay for our stay. They provided several pages of information about local attractions which was very helpful (and we visited many of them). And the hosts are very familiar with the area and were able to answer any questions we had.

General Comments: Overall, this park has great vibes and is full of friendly people. We very much enjoyed our stay here and would return if we were in the area. It is very convenient to Crater Lake National Park.
