On our way from New Orleans to Charleston, SC, we made a stop in Auburn, AL, for a few days. When we drove through the lovely town of Auburn, we were drawn to the beautiful campus of Auburn University.
The chapel is the oldest building in Auburn (1851).
Of particular interest to John, of course, is their football stadium. It is very impressive!
John Heismann coached football here from 1895-1899. Below is a bust of him and statues of the three Heismann trophy winners from Auburn. They are located near the entrance to the stadium.
Auburn University, established in 1856, has approximately 20,000 undergrad and 5,000 graduate students and 1,200 faculty members. Degrees are offered in 140 areas of study. The 1,840-acre campus is just gorgeous...very impressive.
