Montrose KOA, September 8 to September 15, 2015

Rating:  4 on a scale of 5

Location: This campground is on the edge of the town of Montrose. It is therefore, very convenient to the town and only a short distance from the entrance to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Also, the Curecanti National Recreation Center is also located east of Black Canyon. We also took several day trips (to Telluride/Mountain Village and Ouray/Box Canyon Falls) from this location. It we a perfect home base location for us to explore this beautiful part of Colorado.

Lot size: We had a pull-through, full hook up site here that was gravel with a grassy area next to it. The lot was nice and flat and we had no problem leveling the motor coach. We had plenty of room for our car and tow dolly as well. The width of the lot was also very good...we did not feel too close to our neighbors (always nice).

Amenities: There are many amenities here including cable TV, wifi (relatively good service, be sure to get the internet access code for each device when you check in), and laundry (4 washers, 4 dryers).

Below are photos of the swimming pool, hot tub, and playground.

There is a common barbeque area for use by guests. Cabins and tent sites are also available.

Cost: $305

Management: As has been our experience at all KOAs, the check in process is smooth and efficient. There is also National Park Service brochures about parks in the area in the office/gift shop. The staff member that checked us in provided information about good places to eat and other useful local information. Also, I received USPS mail and an Amazon (UPS) package here with no problems.

General Comments: We really liked our lot that was on the edge of the park (E6) and was very easy to pull into with the motor coach. The only down side was that there is a Storage Unit rental facility right across the street. The campground itself, however, is lovely. Also, the cost at KOAs is a little steep, but is justified (I guess!) by all of the amenities. We will be evaluating in the future how many amenities we really need/use. We did our laundry right down the street (a block away) at a large public laundromat just because there was more space there. We would stay here again.
