Monument Valley KOA Journey, September 5 to 12, 2019

Rating: 4 on a scale of 5

Location:  Located at Milepost 2 on Highway 163, this KOA is one of two RV parks near the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. And that’s why we stayed here. Monument Valley has been on our bucket list for a long time!

Lot:   We had an end lot, #1, in the last row of the park, that afforded us great views of the sunset and the valley. We were near the dumpsters but they are shielded by a fence so no issue there. Also, horses owned by the trail-riding company, were in a corral near us, too.

Our lot, like most here of the RV sites in the park, was a pull-through, full-hookup site.

A few back-in sites and tent sites are located along the front row closest to the road, but there is very little noise in the valley at night.

Amenities:  The wifi here is very poor (it is a very remote location!) and our Verizon service was spotty as well. Also, we could not pick up any TV stations and there is no cable available. But, we were here to enjoy the beauty of nature, not watch TV! The bathhouse is a separate building. The laundromat was very nice and was in the same building as the office/gift shop.

There is a fenced, off-leash, K9 Park (gravel/no grass, but our Sadie did not mind) and playground area at one end of the park.

Cost:   Rate here is $58.20/night; but because we stayed a week the 7th night was free, our KOA membership reduced the cost by 10%, and we had VKR rewards certificate that added another $50 reduction to the bill. In the end, we paid $299 or $42.71/night.

Management:  The manager and staff of the park are friendly, helpful, and efficient. The gift shop has supplies in addition to souvenier and gift items. Guided tours are offered with pick up at the KOA park…very convenient for RVers without a car.

General Comments: We had a great time during our week staying at this KOA. We would definitely stay here again. My only reason for the 4 (instead of 5) rating was the poor wifi and lack of cable TV. But, you need to weigh how much you want to enjoy the beauty of Monument Valley vs connectivity!
