Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park, October 15 to 22, 2018

Rating:  4.0 on a scale of 5

Location: As we make our way to the Florida Keys, we decided to stay a week in New Smyrna Beach. This RV park was a great home base for us to visit various attractions in the area. Grocery stores and other shopping is nearby, but the park seems relatively private.

Lot size: The lot sizes vary considerably here. There are lots of full time and seasonal residences here. Park models can be found on many of the sites. We had a nice pull-through, full-hook up site. It was situated between two park models and was not very wide. The trees and plantings in the park, however, provide a good deal of privacy at most sites. We had no problems pulling in or out of the site (#88) and had plenty of room for our tow dolly and Mini Countryman.

Here are some of the other sites.

Amenities: This park has more amenities than most including a lovely (heated) swimming pool with outdoor bar, TV lounge and game room, playground and other activities (volleyball, shuffleboard, horseshoes).

A pond is located near the front of the park.

Two outdoor laundry facilities are available for guests.

There is a very nice off-leash dog park across from the office. Our girl, Sadie, enjoyed it very much!

Cable tv and wifi (usable) are included. At the office is a convenience store (including beer and wine) as well as gifts and souvenirs.

Cost: $301/week=$43/night
(The monthly rate is much more reasonable at $625/month.)

Management: The folks here do a great job managing this park. Check-in was efficient although there was always a wait when I went in the office to purchase anything or ask a question. One person is usually behind the desk answering the phone, checking in new guests, and also waiting on people purchasing stuff from the store. The grounds of the park are beautiful and well maintained.

General Comments: This is a gated park, which provides an nice level of security.

We turned in the pass key to receive our $30 deposit when we departed. We would definitely stay here again. And we liked the area.
