Charlotte Knights, 5/18/2017

The Charlotte Knights are a minor league baseball team in the International League (Charlotte, NC.) They are the Triple-A affiliate for the Chicago White Sox. They play at the BB&T Ballpark that opened in 2014. The $54M stadium is located in Uptown Charlotte; one block from the home of the Carolina Panthers NFL team park, the Bank of America Stadium.

Our friends, John and Angela, obtained tickets and invited us to a game Wednesday night. We planned to meet at the stadium (since we were in Concord and they live in Waxhaw), so we arrived a little early to walk around the area. High rise office and residential buildings surround the park.

There are multiple exits from the park.

You enter the park at Gates 12 or 3, and this is where we met John and Angela.

We arrived early as we wanted to grab a bite to eat and walk around a bit. Some players were also signing autographs for fans.

We watched the game (although I will confess I had two glasses of wine and chatted with Angela most of the time). The guys were more attentive. We had great seats near third base, but, alas, no foul balls came our way.

There were various fun activities with the mascot and fans in between innings. This little girl ran the bases against the mascot to win the race!

The light on the buildings at dusk was beautiful!

And after the sunset the sky was gorgeous.

It was so nice to see John and Angela one more time before leaving NC. We have such a good time with them and the game was a lot of fun (even though the Knights lost...) The (relatively) new stadium is beautiful and the perfect size to enjoy a game. Although the MLB stadiums are impressive, they are just so darn big!
