Red Gates RV Park, August 8 to 18, 2018

Rating:  4.0 on a scale of 5

Location:  We decided to stay in Hendersonville, NC, for a week on our way to see family in Concord, NC. The campground is convenient to the two primary attractions in the area: Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site and Chimney Rock State Park. Grocery stores, bakers, breweries, wineries, restaurants, apple orchards, and more are with 5 miles, but the park is in a nice secluded area.

Lot size:  We had a lovely, pull through, full hook up site on gravel (#8). It was an end lot so we had plenty of space and were surrounded by green space.

Amenities: Wifi is available and we were able to get TV stations (air). There is a bathhouse and a laundry room (quarters from the office).

Equipment for games (shuffleboard, horseshoes, bead bag toss) is also available at the office. And a lake was just a short distance from our site.

A large, fenced, dog park was a short walk (towards the entrance) from out site.

Cost: $270/weekly rate; $39/night

Management: The hosts at this campground are great; very friendly and helpful. And they do a great job maintaining the grounds. They offered to bring a fire ring to our site, but we decided we did not need one. A nice little office is set up in their RV.

General Comments:  There are not a lot of amenities here, but I gave the park a high score because it was such a lovely place with a good, laid-back, vibe. We would definitely stay here again. A word of caution, GPS will take you to the wrong entrance. Be sure to check out their website for more detailed instructions.
