Yume Japanese Gardens of Tucson - 1/18/15

With just one more day in Tucson and a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon, we decided to visit Yume Japanese Gardens. And I am so glad that we did.

The entry to the gardens houses an exhibit of Japanese artifacts as well as a gift shop with very unique items available for purchase. We spent some time in the exhibit area as it was beautiful and interesting.

John and this garden cat became fast friends.

While I have no in-depth knowledge of Japan nor does John, we really loved the simple elegance and striking beauty of the various small gardens at this location. This is a place to sit on the benches provided, contemplate nature, and enjoy the tranquility.

The day we visited there was an exhibition opening that evening. We were fortunate to get an preview of the event, the Ceramic Sculpture by Ping Wei (1/19-2/28/2015).  These are beautiful sculptures that can also be used to arrange flowers in the Japanese art called ikebana. Here are some of them. They were exquisite!

This is one of those unique experiences that we both treasure. Although the gardens are located in the middle of Tucson, when you are here you feel transported to another place and time. Loved it!

Admission was $9/adults and $7/seniors. Below is a link to their website for additional information on classes and events at the gardens.
