Dusk at Delaware Seashore State Park, 9/03/2017

Staying at the Delaware Seashore State Park campground on the south side of the Indian River Inlet provides direct access to the South Beach Day Use area.

Going for a walk from our campsite (#340) at dusk was just beautiful. There is a walkway along the Indian River that flows into the Atlantic here.

The Indian River Inlet Bridge (officially named the Charles W. Culler Bridge) is a cable-stayed bridge (2,600' long with a 45' overhead clearance) on DE Route 1 south of Dewey Beach.

The jetty on the north side of the inlet is a popular fishing location. The water here has very swift currents and is not a place to swim! Many chartered fishing boats can be seen navigating the waters as well as the Coast Guard boats from the nearby station.

The walkway continues under the bridge to one of the beaches in the Delaware Seashore State Park. We walked along the jetty on the south side of the inlet. Because there were other dogs at this far end of the beach, we let Sadie go for a quick swim.

As we walked back to the campground, the was setting over the Indian River. I loved the light on the water and walkway at this time of day.

We walked to our RV to pick up something to drink (and a chair) to take back to the river to watch the sunset. Below is a view of the marshy area near the campground.

We settled in to watch the sunset with our sweet doggy, Sadie.

Going...
Going...
Gone...

The moon was rising at the same time. And I snapped a photo of it later that night.

Just lovely.
