Sadie Playtime and Atlantic City Boardwalk, 8/28/2017

Longport Dog Beach is in Egg Harbor, NJ, and is an off-leash dog park. I found it at www.bringfido.com/attraction/beaches/city/somers_point_nj_us/.   Bring Fido is a great resource to find restaurants, hotels, etc., that are dog friendly.

There is plenty of parking on the left before the Ocean Drive Bridge, but no dog wash area. The beach is large and there was plenty of room for all the dogs to run unleashed.

Our sweet doggie, Sadie, had a blast playing with the other dogs and running in and out of the ocean.

The beach is also a popular location for wind surfing.

We decided to drive up to Atlantic City while we were on the Jersey Coast. It was John's first visit to Atlantic City and I wanted him to see a "real" boardwalk! We found a parking lot where we paid $5.

The attendant told us that dogs were permitted on the boardwalk but we quickly found out, that they are not allowed until after Labor Day. (We asked a police officer about it, and he said they didn't care unless someone complained about the dog....) So, we went for a stroll on a short section of the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. And, of course, this is where the Miss America Shoe Parade takes place each year!

I made John pose by the North Carolina Avenue. And, of course, he snapped a pic of me at Pennsylvania Avenue. It's fun seeing all of the places we know from the Monopoly game!

Strolling along the boardwalk, we saw lots of people on the beach with life guards on duty. Tickets for rides at Steel Pier were available at the entrance to the amusement park. The large Ferris wheel and carousel are always classic features at all of the beach amusement park piers we have visited on both the east and west coast. As a native of the Philadelphia area, you've got to love a good Philly Cheesesteak!

There are many places on the Boardwalk to grab a bit to eat including fast food and fine dining and everything in between. Some well-known restaurants we saw included a Jimmy Buffet's MargaritavilleHard Rock Cafe, and House of Blues.

There are still many casinos here, but it is sad to see Taj Mahal go out of business.

We came upon this In the Line of Duty Memorial. It honors Law Enforcement and Firefighters who gave their lives as well as Law Enforcement K-9s saving others.

And, the Boardwalk just would not be complete without a Ripley museum!

There is loads to see and do in Atlantic City (with beautiful gambling casinos and performance venues being the top attractions!), but we enjoyed just spending some time on the boardwalk.
