We had originally planned to go to a dinner at the RV park where we are staying, but instead went to dinner at this little restaurant this is nearby (about .5 mile). It is located in the Flour Bluff area of Corpus Christi.
Several people had told us that the food was good and reasonably priced. I looked it up on UrbanSpoon and found that it has an 86% "like" rating. Perfect!
As you may have surmised by the name, this restaurant serves Filipino food and is well-known for its lumpias, an appetizer that is available in a beef or pork variety. A lumpia is like a fried spring roll with beef or pork, onions, carrots, spices (and I am not sure what else), but are smaller in diameter. These were very crispy and delicious!
I ordered a shrimp dish and John had pork friend rice (something that he loves!) The portions were huge and the food was very good. We also had the pork lumpias as an appetizer.
The restaurant also allowed us to BYOB (a bottle of wine), which made for a great (and inexpensive) dinner out. We had very good service and our food was delivered promptly.
This restaurant is very casual with an unimpressive dining room and is located in a small strip mall.
If you are looking for something fancy, go somewhere else. The Philadelphia Flyers hockey game was on the TV...reminding us of home!
There were not that many people in the restaurant, but lots of folks picked up take out meals. I am sure we will be back to this place for some more lumpias before we leave Corpus Christi!
They do not have a website, but the address is 2124 Waldron Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78418.
