Afternoon in New Orleans - 5/10/15

Arriving at the French Quarter RV Park this afternoon, we ventured out on foot to check out this oldest neighborhood in New Orleans. Bourbon Street and a quick look at the mighty Mississippi were at the top of our list. Our daughter, Amanda, is arriving tomorrow and we will be enjoying New Orleans with her and Justine, but we wanted to get our bearings in this historic city.

Only about 6 blocks from the RV park is the famous (or should I say infamous) Bourbon Street and the historic Royal Sonestra Hotel.

For tips, there are a wide array of interesting folks (and a dog!) that permit a photo or two. Here are some we encountered today. Crazy, right?

Musical Legends Park where great music could be heard on the street.

Sadie was very interested in what the heck was going on at this place...

Some of the attractions here; there is always a party going on... Even the New Orleans Police Department is part of the French Quarter experience.

St. Louis Cathedral (Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis) was visited by Pope John Paul II in 1987.

Famous Cafe Du Monde near the Mississippi. The place was packed in the late afternoon today.

Moonwalk (along the Mississippi River) named for Moon Landreau, a visionary civic leader, mayor and judge.

Washington Artillery Park and bagpiper (he was awesome!)

City tour by carriage and Sadie's new-found friend.

We're really looking forward to sightseeing here with Amanda and Justine this week. We have dinner reservations at Antoine's tomorrow, can't wait!
