Lehigh Gorge Gampground, July 6 to `13, 2017

Rating:  3.0 on a scale of 5

Location: In the Poconos near White Haven, PA, this campground was an excellent home base for us to visit the three state parks in the area (Hickory RunLehigh Gorge, and Nescopeck). Also, the town of Jim Thorpe was about 25 miles away. About a mile down the road was a strip mail in White Haven with a grocery store, pharmacy, pizza place, etc., which was very convenient as well.

Lot size: Our full hook-up site (#119) was a pull through, but gravel and not very level. Also, it was only a 30-amp (I thought I had reserved a 50-amp) site. However, we had a good amount of privacy. And we did not spend much time at the RV park during the day. A picnic table and fire ring are provided at each site.

There were some very run down and "cluttered" seasonal (or permanent) sites. Other sites though were nicely shaded with a good degree of privacy.

Amenities:  There are many amenities here including a lovely fishing pond, playground, heated (78 degrees) swimming pool (decent size), large picnic shelter, and volley ball court.

The showers/restrooms, laundry, and activity room (pool table, ping pong table, etc.) are in this building near the entrance.

Wifi is available in the campground and we were able to pick up broadcast TV stations.

Cost: $258 (cash) for one week; cost is $270 if you pay with a credit card.

Management: The people in the office are very friendly and helpful. Check in was fast and easy. They also provide information about local activities/events.

An access code is provided at check-in to enable guests to enter through the gate at the entrance to the campground.

General Comments:  Overall, we had a nice stay here. None of the state parks have full hook-ups (no sewage), but they have beautiful campgrounds. The 3.0 rating is based more on the appearance of this place than the management or location.
