Willow Tree RV Resort & Campground, September 23-30, 2017

Rating:  4.75 on a scale of 5

Location: We selected this RV park for several reasons: we wanted to visit North Myrtle Beach; It was conveniently located on our route to Charleston, SC (our next stop); and we wanted to check out this park for a future winter stay. We have friends who have stayed here and recommend it. It is 16 miles from North Myrtle Beach, 17 miles from Calabash, NC (for great seafood restaurants), and 30 miles to Myrtle Beach.

Lot size: This park has huge (maybe the largest!) lots we have seen. They are paved drive-through, full hook-up sites with trees interspersed throughout and a good distance between sites. Each has a concrete pad, fire ring, picnic table, and lots of surrounding grass. There was plenty of room for our tow dolly and car on the paved part of the site.

Cottages are available for rent There is also a community of upscale park units here.

Amenities: This place has a long list of amenities and, really, everything you would want or need: swimming pool, children's pool, hot tub, sandy lake beach with various activities, ping pong/pool tables; playground; wifi (decent but major upgrade planned in Nov); cable TV; rec room, and banquet facility.

There are walking and biking trails with one around the large lake. Boat rentals and fishing (from boat, dock or lakeside) are popular activities.

Shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits. Bocci ball courts, and bean bag toss activities (equipment provided) are all available as well.

The laundry room was probably the nicest we have seen at an RV park

Cost: $385; $55/night (rate after Labor Day to May 1)

Management: Everything about this place is immaculate and efficient. There is a store at the office that sells items you might want while RVing as well as souvenirs. A card is issued at check in (and returned at check out) to open the gate at the entrance.

General Comments:  This really is a fantastic park and it is convenient to the beach (without actually having to be in the sand!) I felt the weekly rates are very high (they can get it due to the location near Myrtle Beach), but the monthly rates are very reasonable (especially if you commit to a three-four month stay). We will very likely return to this park in the future. It's a really beautiful place!
