Mid-Year Itinerary Planning, 7/26/2018

Originally, we had planned to travel from Great Basin National Park in Baker, NV, to Idaho, then Washington, then Oregon, then California. Because we made the decision to return to Houston, TX, we totally re-worked our 2018 itinerary.

It always takes us some time to figure out where we want to go and where we will stay. Because our grandson’s third birthday is in September, we decided to head east to North Carolina, instead of northwest as originally planned. As of this writing, this is a map of our current plan.

Obviously, this map does not represent our driving route, but merely the locations where we will stay for various periods of time (one week to 4 months). We were thrilled to find a good deal on a one-month stay in MarathonFL, (the Keys) for the month of November! We plan to head west again in 2019.

It’s great, though, to be retired and have the flexibility to do what we want (within our budget, of course). We have met other full-timers who do not plan ahead as much as I do, but I think my years in corporate America have made me a planner!

  1. Maybe we will cross paths. We will be in Florida from the middle of November and in the Keys for six weeks starting the middle of December.
