Amistad, Rough Canyon - 2/16/15

Although it was a chilly day here in Del Rio, TX, we ventured out to see Rough Canyon, another part of the huge Lake Amistad.

The Ranger Station was closed today because it is President's Day, but there is an automated method to purchase permits if you plan to go fishing here.

Amistad has 540 miles of shoreline in Texas with 12 public boat ramps. The one at Rough Canyon is one of the most popular. The level of the lake is determined by the Armistad Dam (much of the water is used for irrigation). There are two ramps here, one for when the lake is high and the other for when the water level is lower.

High water ramp.
Marina.

Limestone cliffs.

Fish cleaning station.

New condos. There are numerous rental properties here as well.

Sadie had a blast running around the area. There were lots of interesting smells here...apparently. No swimming today though; too cold!
