Trees were planted for shade in the lawns surrounding the ranch.
In the 1920s, settlers built a series of irrigation ditches from the Rio Grande to support agricultural fields of corn, melons, and cotton. They can be seen today throughout this area of the park.
Picnic area next to the ranch ruins.
There were bees buzzing all around the branches of this tree. The sound was amazing! We could see them in the sunlight, but it is not evident in this photo.
Sadie loved jumping in and out of the irrigation ditches!
