Location: On this one dimension this RV park rates a 5! And this is the reason that we decided to stay here. It is a perfect home base for seeing the amazing sites at Big Bend National Park. The Rio Grande River is within walking distance. This is the view from our back window.
Lot size: The park is basically a parking lot with hook ups. There are a total of 25 lots and reservations an be made for 20 of them; the remaining 5 are for "last-minute" arrivals. There are only back-in sites and all lots are the same size. There is enough room to park a vehicle and tow dolly next to a motor coach.
Amenities: There is a gas station (one of two in the entire park), Village Store, laundromat and showers here. Also, free wifi is available at the laundromat (there are picnic tables outside). There is a pay phone, too, since there is no network coverage for mobile devices in most areas of the park. Several hiking trails are accessible from this area as well.
Cost: $35/night. This is comparable to what we have paid at other National Parks for full hook-up sites.
Management: Check-in and management of the park is handled by the folks in the Village Store here. We had made reservations well in advance and our check in was handled efficiently with no hassles.
General Comments: The Rio Grande Campground located near this one is a beautiful campground, with no hook ups, where many RVers stay. It is divided into two sections, one where generators are permitted. There is a fresh water station and dump station located nearby. So, if you can get by without hook ups, I would recommend it. The Rio Grande Nature Trail is located across from site 18 here.
Overall, the RV park was exactly what we thought it would be. The park is huge and it was very convenient to have our "home" to return to each day at Rio Grande Village.
